A garden overlooking the ocean. In the garden, a library. And in the library, a reader.

Aiming for a relaxation moment in the midst of a public garden of the city, this installation configures a micro-library, which closes in itself and opens to the sky.

Approaching the piece, installed in a viewing point towards the harbor, the tall cylindrical volume creates a beacon in this sector of the garden. The use of plywood as source material, a CNC cutting method, a system of pieces that would fit into each other, all contributed to create a robust, lightweight structure, easy to assemble and remove, able to withstand the added weight of books and resistant to the Atlantic shore winds.

The shape naturally configures an interior space. In fact, the installation invites to be appreciated from the inside, having all book spines facing inwards and the enveloping the visitor by all the reading possibilities, thus creating a sort of reading nest.

When entering the space, the visitor is compelled to bow as if entering a space of cult. A bow to literature and knowledge. Even though it was heralded as a library for one, much to our satisfaction we noticed a good reception and continuous use of the installation.
